Yu (Alice Fong) Elementary is celebrating its 30th anniversary of being the first school to offer Chinese immersion education. The school's legacy is now shaping plans in the district to add more Mandarin immersion programs and improve the flow of bilingual teachers, which strengthens its role in shaping multilingual public education in San Francisco.
