Whitman Elementary in San Diego is working hard this year to make learning better and keep kids interested. They're adding more STEM stuff for older kids, like science and math projects. The goal is to get them ready for middle school.
Also, they've started some new reading programs to aid young kids learn to read. Teachers are giving kids help in small groups so they can get better at reading and feel good about it.
They’re also trying to get families more involved with workshops, reading nights, and chances to help out in class. This will make the school and home life work together.
All this shows that Whitman Elementary is dedicated to doing well in school, helping students grow, and making sure everyone feels included. They want to be sure every student has what they need to do well in a safe and fun place.
Q1. What kinds of activities do Whitman Elementary students do outside of school?
Ans. Students can take part in art, music, sports, clubs, and school events that happen at different times of the year to help them learn more than just what they learn in class.
Q2. Does Whitman Elementary help kids who are learning English as a second language?
Ans. Yes, the school has special classes and resources to help ELL students learn English.
Q3. What can parents do to help out at Whitman Elementary?
Ans. Parents can get involved with the school community by volunteering, going to school events, and joining the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA).
Q4. What tech tools do students have access to?
Ans. Computers, tablets, and other digital tools are available in classrooms to make lessons and projects better.
Q5. What does Whitman Elementary do to keep students safe?
Ans. The school keeps everyone safe by having supervised entry and exit, secure campus access, and regular emergency drills.
