Sunset View Elementary is getting noticed because kids are reading way better this year. Reports show that many students who needed extra help have made big jumps in their reading skills thanks to focused teaching and more support in class.

Also, if you don't live in the Sunset View neighborhood, you can now apply for your child to go there in the 2026-27 school year. Lots of parents want their kids to go to Sunset View because it focuses on STEAM (science, tech, engineering, and math) and has a great community feel. That's why the application window is longer!

Staff and families are also planning winter activities and events for parents to get involved and help their kids do well. All of this shows that Sunset View Elementary is serious about helping kids read, getting families involved, and giving kids more choices in San Diego.
