It is known as one of the best schools because it gives about 400 students a flexible, online place to learn. The school has a lot of different kinds of students. For example, 75% of the students are minorities and 67% are low-income. With a student-to-teacher ratio of about 24:1, the school is one of the best for personalized, remote instruction that meets the needs of each student. 52% of students at San Diego Virtual are good at reading, and 20% are good at math. The school helps students get ready for college by helping them take the SAT and ACT, which are tests they need to pass to get into college. It is known as one of the best schools in the area for digital education and has a steady, easy-to-follow academic path. The best things about it are that it is friendly and that it is committed to helping students learn more through new virtual learning models, and it is one of the best high school in California.

The San Diego Virtual School has just started a better program for students who want to take classes at both schools. Students can earn college credits that they can use at other schools while still meeting their high school requirements through this flexible online program. The academy has started a new series of virtual career mentoring sessions for the 2025–2026 school year. This series links students with people who work in the healthcare and technology fields. The school has also added more online clubs run by students and digital workshops where students can work together.
