Being Updated
Emerson Elementary recently threw a party for student art and writing that included the whole district. They put student work from all grades on display for everyone to see. Families, teachers, and people from around town came to check it out. There were paintings, poems, and stories that the students worked on all year. Teachers said the party helped students share what they think and gave them a real audience to show their stuff.
At the same time as the art thing, Emerson also started a program where older students help younger ones by reading together and working on projects. Teachers have seen that this program has improved friendships between grades and made the older and younger kids feel more confident.
Parents were happy that the school is showing off creativity along with regular schoolwork. They mentioned that events like the art show help students feel good about themselves and get involved.
