Latest News

Starting in 2025, Porter Elementary is joining San Diego Unified's Community Schools program. District people say this means Porter will get more support to get students, families, and health folks working together at school. The Community Schools plan includes things like tutoring, help with feelings, health stuff, and ways for families to participate.

Porter Elementary leaders said this shows how well teachers and families are working together. It goes with their goal to help students grow as people and in school. Administrators at Porter Elementary noted that the designation reflects strong collaboration between educators and families, and aligns with their efforts to support all students’ academic and personal growth. They're adding after-school tutoring, wellness stuff, and working with local groups from this fall.

This development highlights Porter Elementary’s evolving role as a community-centered school focused on comprehensive support for students and families during the 2025-26 academic year.
