Perry Elementary is putting more emphasis on student health and academic support by starting a new family engagement series for the school year 2025–26. The series has monthly workshops for parents and caregivers on topics like how to help kids learn to read and write, how to help kids with their math skills at home, and how to help kids with their social and emotional skills. School leaders say the goal of the program is to improve communication between families and teachers and give students useful tools to help them do well in and out of school.

Perry Elementary has also opened a student wellness center run by trained staff to help kids deal with common problems that school-age kids face, such as controlling their emotions, making friends, and finding ways to cope. Since the beginning of the year, teachers have noticed that more students are taking on leadership roles and working together on projects.
