Latest News

The new leaders at Los Altos Elementary School in San Diego want to improve the school's academics and get the community more involved. The principal and teachers are trying out new ways of teaching to help kids get better at reading and math early on, based on recent test scores. They're focusing more on helping students one-on-one in class and in small groups so they can get better over the course of the year.

The school is also working with more local groups to put on fun events and family workshops that teach parents how to help their kids learn at home. School leaders think these programs are getting more parents involved and talking to each other, which is good for students' success.
