Longfellow K–8 is a public school in San Diego, California, that teaches kids from kindergarten through eighth grade. There are about 750 to 800 students at the school, and there is one teacher for every 22 students. This means that teachers can give each student the attention they need while still keeping the number of students in each class small. The school teaches math, English Language Arts, science, and social studies according to standards. Students learn more than just what they learn in school through enrichment programs in the arts, technology, and physical education. Longfellow K-8 also teaches kids how to be good leaders and how to understand their feelings and get along with others. The student body is made up of people from many different races and ethnic groups. Recent numbers show that 63% of students are good at math and 69% are good at reading. This is better than the average for the district. Longfellow K–8 is known for its caring community, well-rounded academic programs, and commitment to helping students succeed and grow.

Being Updated
Folks are on edge at Longfellow K–8 in San Diego. Word is, a third-grader made a hit list this week. School staff got the kid out fast and are helping the other kids cope. They're saying everyone's safe now. The principal let families know what's up, and the district says they're taking it very seriously and have safety plans ready.
Some parents are really worried, especially about their kids' behavior. They're pushing for more money to support student mental health. School leaders reiterated their commitment to ensuring a safe, supportive environment for all students and staff, and encouraged families to communicate with teachers and counselors about student well-being.
