As part of the San Diego Unified School District's expanded Community Schools Program, Lafayette Elementary School in Clairemont, San Diego, is getting a lot of attention. The program now gives students and families more resources outside of the classroom. Lafayette Elementary is a community school that offers wellness support and family engagement opportunities to help students do well in school and in life. Staff at the campus stress that the community school model makes it easier for teachers, families, and support specialists to work together to meet the needs of all students.
