About Innovations Academy

Innovations Academy is a public charter school in San Diego, California that teaches kids from kindergarten through eighth grade. There are about 350 students and a 17:1 student-teacher ratio, so the classes are small enough that everyone gets a lot of attention. The school does project-based learning, which means that kids learn science, technology, engineering, and math along with other subjects to get them to think outside the box and solve problems. They also have arts and tech programs to help students learn a lot. The student body is pretty different, just like the people who live in San Diego. About 58% of students are good at math, and 68% are good at reading, so they're doing well in school. The school's funding is normal for a charter school. It pays for things like computers, supplies, and after-school activities. It is in a nice area and does a great job of preparing students for the next step in their education by getting them to think outside the box and learn by doing.

Latest News

Innovations Academy in San Diego got some buzz in the neighborhood when they threw their first Innovation Fair. Kids showed off cool projects that mixed science, tech, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). They had robots, models about the environment, and team design projects for their families and people from around town to check out. School folks said the fair was the best part of the fall, and were really happy with how creative the kids were and how they solved problems.

Besides the fair, Innovations Academy is doing more with after-school stuff, like starting clubs for coding, writing stories, and art. They want to give kids more to do and let them try out new things they might not get to do in class.

The school also started planning better spots to learn outside. Parents are helping to plan gardens and science areas where kids can get their hands dirty with science projects in the spring.
