Holly Drive Leadership Academy, a small K-8 charter school in San Diego, is going ahead with its plans for the 2025–26 school year. The school really wants to make learning personal and give kids real-world experiences.

Holly Drive has less than 200 students, so they like to take them on field trips and teach them in the community. It emphasizes a “School Without Walls” approach, including field trips and community-based learning that expand students’ perspectives beyond the classroom.

About 86% of families can get lunch for free or at a lower price. The school is committed to serving a wide range of students, including a lot of Black and Hispanic kids. Recently, meetings have been about how to help kids learn more, be honest about money, and get families more involved. All of this shows that Holly Drive cares about both the people who live there and the community as they work toward their goals for the year.
