Being Updated
Recently, local district updates have talked about Hearst Elementary School in the Del Cerro area of San Diego. This is part of a new program that will add after-school enrichment programs to several campuses, including Hearst. The San Diego Unified School District is working with community groups to offer students after-school activities like homework help, arts and crafts, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) activities. The goal of this effort is to improve academic support and get students more involved outside of regular school hours, making education more accessible for families.
Also, Hearst Elementary's campus is getting solar panels installed later this school year. This is part of the district's efforts to make schools more environmentally friendly and save money on energy costs. This work on the infrastructure is supposed to happen at the same time as regular school activities, and steps will be taken to make sure that students and staff are not too disturbed.
