Being Updated
The San Diego Unified School District has been talking about the future of K-8 schools, and Grant K-8 School in San Diego has been a part of those talks. The district has suggested a plan to change some K-8 schools by getting rid of the middle school grades. This would allow students to move to bigger middle schools that can offer more electives, sports, and enrichment programs.
Many Grant K-8 families, staff, and community members are very interested in and have given feedback on this proposal. Many of them like the close-knit, stable environment of a K-8 model. In response, district officials have stressed that no final decision has been made and that the community's input will help shape what happens next.
The ongoing conversations show that Grant K-8 has an active school community and that the district is working to find a balance between giving students opportunities, providing academic programming.
