Being Updated
Golden Hill K–8 School is currently part of a conversation in the San Diego Unified School District about how to reorganize K–8 campuses. Starting in the 2026–27 school year, district officials want to slowly get rid of middle school grades (6–8) at a few K–8 schools, including Golden Hill. The plan is to send students to bigger middle schools that have more electives and specialized programs.
The announcement has caused worry in the community and parents and teachers have given feedback about how it might affect students, school culture, and the identity of the neighborhood. District leaders are thinking about making changes to the restructuring plan based on the feedback, but they are still looking at the specific choices they need to make about Golden Hill.
This ongoing conversation shows how families and district officials are working together to make sure that students have access to the programs.
Q1. Does Golden Hill K–8 School have programs before or after school?
Ans. Yes, the school lets students use district-approved before- and after-school programs if they are available.
Q2. Are there activities outside of school for students?

Q3. Does the school help students who are learning English?
