Garfield Elementary School is a public school in San Diego, California, that serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The school has about 350 to 400 students and a student-to-teacher ratio of about 23 to 1, which is about the same as the average class size in the district. Garfield Elementary focuses on teaching the basics of English Language Arts, math, science, and social studies. The school also offers targeted intervention programs and enrichment activities to help students with different learning needs and help them grow. The student body is very diverse, with a lot of minority students and a lot of students from low-income families. This is a reflection of the community as a whole. According to U.S. News data, 52% of students are good at math and 72% are good at reading (ELA). This shows that they are good at reading and writing but still need to get better at math. Garfield Elementary is funded by public district resources and spends about the same amount per student as other public schools in California.

Being Updated
Garfield Elementary School, which is part of San Diego Unified, is still getting props from the community for doing better in school and making the school nicer. Families and district folks have been talking about how the kids are doing better in class. The school's becoming known as one of the most improved elementaries in the district, especially when it comes to reading and including everyone in the classroom. District reports say they've been using better teaching methods and bringing English learners and special ed students into regular classes so they can all grow and get involved.
Besides academics, the school has been working to make the campus better. They've got newer classrooms and better security, so students and teachers feel good and safe. All this is part of the district's plan to make sure all schools in San Diego give everyone a fair shot at a good education.
