Being Updated
This winter, Dewey Elementary is getting a lot of attention because of a community-wide book distribution program that gave students free books. This is a great way to get young readers excited about reading. This was a celebration of reading that got kids excited about reading and made them love books. Teachers and parents saw that students were excited about reading new stories and getting better at reading. Dewey Elementary is known for having a diverse student body and being a welcoming place for kids from military families. This effort shows that the school is still focused on getting kids interested in reading. In addition to classroom work, the school encourages families to get involved and works with the community to help kids read more outside of school.
