Being Updated
Crown Point Elementary, which used to be called Crown Point Junior Music Academy, is getting a lot of attention from the community after the San Diego Unified School District closed the school's joint-use field to the public for a short time because of ongoing damage and sanitation problems caused by dogs running free. Families and local residents had fun on the field after school, but dogs dug holes and left animal waste that made it unsafe and dirty for students. Because of this, the district decided to limit access while repairs and maintenance are scheduled to bring the space back to its original condition. Neighbors have had mixed reactions to the closure: some agree that student safety should come first, while others think the public lost a valuable place to play. Officials in the district and city are coming up with a new way to keep an eye on and maintain things.
