Birney Elementary School is a public school in San Diego, California that teaches kids from kindergarten through fifth grade. There are about 400 to 450 students at the school, and the student-teacher ratio is 24:1. This keeps class sizes small and helps each student learn. The English Language Arts, math, science, and social studies classes at Birney Elementary meet state standards. The school focuses on using technology, offering extra activities, and teaching kids how to deal with their feelings and get along with others. It also helps English Learners and students who need extra help with their schoolwork. There are a lot of different kinds of students at the school. About 65–70% of them are minorities, like Hispanic, African American, Asian, and multiracial students. USA News says that 66% of students are good at math and 77% are good at reading and language arts. This is better than what most people in the district do.

Birney???????????????? Elementary School has been recognized with a lot of positive attention following the success of its student theater production. The event featured students of all grade levels coming together for a community performance that was warmly received by the families. The school’s arts program went live with a vivid play that had music, dance, and original student reflection on diversity and inclusion. Teachers and administrators pointed out the event as a brilliant example of how performing arts can deeply engage students, help them gain confidence and develop their communication skills. The families who attended the performance were full of praise for the students’ inventiveness and the collaborative effort that the students made to the production. Birney Elementary is dedicated to blending arts into its students' educational journey, which is a reflection of the school’s bigger picture philosophy of nurturing the whole child.
