Howe Avenue Elementary School marked the retirement of longtime kindergarten teacher Ms. Karen Franz in August 2025. She concluded 29 years of service at the school, where she worked with multiple generations of students and families. Her retirement recognized a lengthy career dedicated to early childhood education and classroom instruction.
Q1. Are there any programs for kids at Howe Avenue Elementary before or after school?
Ans: Yes, the school has before- and after-school care programs to help working families and give kids more chances to learn.
Q2. Do students have things to do outside of school?
Ans: Students can take part in extracurricular activities like art, music, physical education, and programs that add to their learning during the summer.
Q3: What does Howe Avenue Elementary do to help students who are learning English as a second language (ELL)?
Ans. The school helps students get better at English by giving them targeted ELL lessons, bilingual materials, and changes in the classroom.
Q4: How can parents stay up to date on what's happening at school?
Ans. Parents can get involved by joining the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), volunteering, going to school events, and talking to teachers and staff on a regular basis.
Q5. What is being done to make sure Howe Avenue Elementary is safe?
The school follows district safety rules, like not letting people onto the campus, holding emergency drills on a regular basis, and having staff watch over students all day.
