Being Updated
The self-directed curriculum at Maria Montessori Charter Academy is still going strong. It lets kids from preschool to eighth grade learn on their own. The school community is still very involved in parent partnership programs, which are a big part of how the school teaches. Families in the area still choose the academy because it is dedicated to high standards and new ways of learning.
Q1. Does Maria Montessori Charter Academy have a calendar that runs all year?
Ans. The academy follows a traditional school calendar that matches the holiday breaks of the public school district in the area.
Q2. What does the "Grace and Courtesy" curriculum at Maria Montessori Charter Academy teach?
Ans. This program teaches students how to get along with others, how to solve problems, and how to talk to people in a polite way so that the classroom is a peaceful place.
Q3. Are there multi-age classrooms at Maria Montessori Charter Academy?
Ans. Students are put into groups based on their developmental stage every three years to encourage peer mentoring and long-term relationships with their teachers.
Q4. Does Maria Montessori Charter Academy serve hot meals?
Ans. The school has a daily meal program that meets federal nutrition standards for all preschool and K-8 students who take part.
Q5: What does Maria Montessori Charter Academy do with standardized tests?
Ans. The school is a public charter, so it has to take state tests every year. However, it can still use its own Montessori teaching methods.
