Wilson Elementary School in Petaluma, California, is a public school that teaches kids from kindergarten through sixth grade. The school has about 220 to 230 students and a student-teacher ratio of 25 to 1, which is a little higher than the state average. Wilson Elementary has a standards-based curriculum that focuses on reading, writing, and math, as well as social and emotional learning. It also has enrichment activities that encourage creativity and student participation. The student body is not very diverse; about 24% of students are from minority backgrounds, and the rest are White. According to U.S. News, 57% of students meet or exceed the standards for math proficiency, and 57% meet or exceed the standards for reading proficiency. These numbers are higher than the state averages for California and show that the students are consistently doing well in school. The state and local governments pay for Wilson Elementary, and the school gets a lot of help from families and the community.
