Being Updated
Jefferson Elementary School in Paramount continues to operate with the district's most favorable student-teacher ratio at 19:1 heading into the 2025–26 school year — and pairs that structural advantage with a 37% math proficiency rate, the second-highest math score among all ranked Paramount Unified elementary campuses. For a 336-student Title I school, the combination of small class structure and above-district-average math outcomes makes Jefferson one of the more analytically interesting campuses in the district.
Q1. The student/teacher ratio at Jefferson Elementary is the lowest in Paramount Unified. What is the reason?
Ans. Jefferson Elementary has an overall student enrollment of 336 with 18 teachers on staff, which results in a 19/1 ratio. This ratio produces smaller class sizes at Jefferson as compared to other district schools, resulting in more opportunities for individualized instruction.
Q2. Does Jefferson Elementary provide Gifted and Talented Education?
Ans. Yes; Jefferson Elementary has a GATE program. Students are identified by the district wide process which includes teacher referrals, academic data, and family input. For families wishing to apply to GATE, please contact the school or have the child's teacher submit a referral for GATE.
Q3. What counseling support does Jefferson Elementary provide for its students?
Ans. Jefferson Elementary has one full-time school counselor who provides academic support referrals, provides social-emotional learning resources, and connects with families. If a parent would like to arrange a counseling session for their child, please contact the school for more information on the available services.
Q4. How does the school offer afterschool care?
Ans. Jefferson Elementary participates in the Paramount Unified's After School Education and Safety Program via Think Together and offers free academic and enrichment opportunities with supervision after school hours. Families wanting to know about availability or enrollment requirements should reach out directly to the school office.
Q5. How do I enroll at Jefferson Elementary if I reside outside the attendance area?
Ans. Children living in the Paramount Unified School District's defined attendance zone will be enrolled at Jefferson Elementary, unless an InterDistrict Transfer Request has been completed and submitted to Paramount Unified School District's Central Office. There is no guarantee that your request will be honored, but if you are considering requesting an Inter District Transfer Request, we recommend contacting the ETA (Enrollment Services) office for information regarding timeframe and eligibility criteria.
Note: Schedules may change during school holidays. Please contact School for exact Schedule.
