Families who want to learn in different ways can get a flexible and tailored education at Orcutt School for Independent Study. The program was able to add new hybrid and blended learning models for the 2025–2026 school year that better meet the needs of all students. This new way makes sure that students stay in touch with the district and do well in school at the same time.
Q1. How often do students visit the Orcutt School for Independent Study campus?
Ans. Students meet with their assigned teacher weekly to review progress, turn in work, and receive new assignments.
Q2. Does Orcutt School for Independent Study provide physical textbooks?
Ans. All necessary curriculum materials and textbooks are checked out to families at the beginning of the school year.
Q3. Can Orcutt School for Independent Study students participate in district sports?
Ans. Students remain eligible to participate in extracurricular activities and sports at their neighborhood school of residence.
Q4. What is the role of the parent at Orcutt School for Independent Study?
Ans. Parents act as the primary instructional facilitators at home while following the teacher’s established learning plan.
Q5. Does Orcutt School for Independent Study offer state testing on-site?
Ans. Mandatory annual state assessments are proctored on campus to ensure all students meet California educational standards.
