The gender mix is 51% female and 49% male. The overall school environment is set up to give all students a consistent and predictable way to learn. Staff members stress how important it is to be on time and attend regularly. Classrooms have all the basic supplies they need to teach core subjects. The school courtyard is the main place where students can hang out with adults. Science and social studies themes that are currently being studied are shown in the hallways. There are now modern safety systems in place all over the building. In this area, homes cost between $950,000 and $1,800,000. Parents often talk about how the front office staff is kind and how strong the sense of tradition is. Many families like that the school has strong ties to the community. This school is one of the best elementary schools in California.

Being Updated
The board is looking for a new permanent director for Novato Charter School because the school's leadership changed in late 2024. During this time, the school is being run by people who are only there for a short time. The school still puts a lot of emphasis on its Waldorf-inspired curriculum by holding seasonal festivals and performances by students that celebrate nature. A lot of people want to get their kids into the specialized K–8 programs, so families are entering the annual enrollment lottery for the 2026–2027 school year.
Q1. What is the main teaching philosophy at Novato Charter School?
Ans. The school uses a Waldorf-inspired curriculum that includes arts, movement, and nature in both academic and social learning every day.
Q2. Do you have to apply separately to Novato Charter School than to other schools in the district?
Ans. Yes, the school runs its own independent lottery and enrollment process for families who want to send their kids there each spring because it is a charter school.

Ans. The school community puts on a number of seasonal festivals each year that feature music, storytelling, and traditional crafts.
