From February 2nd to March 26th, Calahan Street Elementary will be doing its 2025–2026 School Experience Survey to get important feedback on how to make the school better. The school held a "Cafe Calahan" meeting in December to talk about the CA Dashboard data, the proposed school budget, and the SPSA plans for 2026–2027. Families are getting ready for fifth-grade fundraisers and the start of a new PTA that will help with student programs.
Q1. What is "Cafe Calahan" at Calahan Street Elementary School?
Ans. These are regular meetings for parents where the principal talks about school improvement plans, budget updates, and other information with the community.
Q2. Is there a separate science lab at Calahan Street Elementary?
Ans. The school has a science center where students do experiments that follow the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
Q3. What does Calahan Street Elementary do to help students who are learning English?
Ans. Every day, specialized ELD blocks are scheduled to help students with language and fill in gaps in their learning.
Q4. Does Calahan Street Elementary have sports after school?
Ans. The school works with groups in the area to offer seasonal sports like soccer and basketball for older students to play.
Q5. Is Calahan Street Elementary a part of the "Box Tops for Education" program?
Ans. Families can use the app to scan their receipts and get cash back that goes toward classroom supplies and student rewards.
