Being Updated
Sherwood Elementary in Modesto, California, is going through a big change! The school is in Phase 2 of its Long-Range Facilities Plan, and a $54 million renovation project is 54% done. The new building will be ready for the 2026–2027 school year. It will have modern classrooms, a new gym, and better safety features.
Some exciting news is:
- New Gym: More room for school events and P.E. classes
- New Entrance: Safer and more inviting
- Geothermal System: Better for the environment and uses less energy
- Improvements to the outside: better landscaping and play areas
The principal is dedicated to running the school and making it a good place for students to learn and grow.

Ans. Parents stay involved by going to meetings, reading updates, and doing things that help their child learn.
Q2. What does the school do to help students grow?
Ans. Sherwood Elementary helps students grow both academically and personally by teaching them how to be disciplined, work as a team, and solve problems.
Q3. What does the school do to help kids act right?
Ans. Clear expectations, consistent guidance, and positive reinforcement teach students to be respectful and responsible.
Q4. What does Sherwood Elementary do to make kids want to learn?
Ans. Teachers use interesting lessons, discussions, and chances to learn about things outside of class to get students interested and make them think for themselves.
Q5. What kind of learning is the school most interested in?
Ans. Sherwood Elementary focuses on active learning, which means that students are encouraged to ask questions, work together, and think about how far they've come.
