The California Transportation Commission gave the Madera County Transportation Commission a $2.4 million grant to improve the community. This money will go to La Vina Elementary School in Madera, California. The school has also been working hard to promote reading and writing. For National Family Literacy Month, Valley Children's organization gave 300 books to students. Principal Christina Riche has also stressed how important it is for students to have good relationships and do well in school.
