Short Avenue Elementary is a public elementary school in Los Angeles, California. It is in a big city and is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District. There are 405 students at the school, which serves grades K–5. There are 22 students for every teacher, which means that classrooms can be of moderate size. Short Avenue Elementary has a core academic curriculum that focuses on reading, math, and writing. It also has programs to help students who are learning English and those who need extra help with their schoolwork. The school is part of Title I programs that give students extra resources to help them learn. However, only about 33% of the students are economically disadvantaged, which is less than in many urban schools. There are a lot of different kinds of students, and there are about as many boys as girls. Based on test scores, 52% of students are good at math and 57% are good at reading. This is better than the average for the district and the state. In general, Short Avenue Elementary is a school that cares about the community. A lot of things are happening at Short Avenue Elementary in Los Angeles. It was a great way to end the year that the school just had Spirit Week. The event was special because it showed how much the students and staff loved their school.
After the winter and Christmas breaks, classes will start up again on the first week of January 2026. The school is also getting ready for a fun break. The principal is in charge of the school and is making it a good place for kids to do well, make friends, and feel good about themselves. Short Avenue Elementary has won awards for its programs in technology and the arts. It also offers Latin and ballroom dancing classes that are only for certain people.
