Para Los Niños Charter in Los Angeles, California, is getting a lot of attention because it is so focused on helping students do well. The school wants its students to get a well-rounded education that includes doing well in school, being mentally and emotionally healthy, and loving to learn.
To help students do well in and out of school, the school has a lot of different support services, such as counseling, social work, and family support specialists. Para Los Niños Charter has been part of a larger nonprofit that has been helping kids and families in downtown Los Angeles with education and social services for more than 40 years. The school's efforts have paid off in big ways, such as all groups having lower suspension rates than the state average.
