Recently the new music program at Castelar Street Elementary in Los Angeles, California, is getting a lot of attention! The school has teamed up with Education Through Music-Los Angeles to give its students a full music education. This program is helping students become more creative, build relationships, and grow socially and emotionally.
Many students are doing well, and a lot of them are joining instrumental groups like the Orchestra and the Modern Band. Chloe Tan, a 5th grader, says, "I like music class Music is important to me because it can give you more energy and make everyday tasks easier. The program has effects outside of the classroom. For example, Eloise Wong, the bassist for The Linda Lindas, says that music education helped her succeed. The partnership between ETM-LA and other organizations is changing lives and giving students the tools they need to reach their full potential.
Q1. Are there ways for parents to get involved?
Ans. Parents can get involved by going to PTO events, volunteering in the classroom, and joining school committees.
Q2: Does the school have access to technology?
Ans. Castelar Street Elementary has computers, tablets, and other interactive learning tools in the classroom.
Q3. Are trips to the field planned?
Ans. Yes, every year there are educational field trips that are related to what students are learning in school.
Q4. What is the main goal of Castelar Street Elementary?
Ans. Castelar Street Elementary puts a lot of emphasis on creating a supportive learning environment where students can be curious and think critically through hands-on activities and group projects.
Q5. Are there chances to do things outside of school?
Ans. Yes, students can join art clubs, music programs, and seasonal activities to help them learn in the classroom.
