The school has about 450 to 500 students and a student-teacher ratio of about 20:1. Renaissance High School for the Arts has a college-preparatory curriculum that focuses on the performing arts, visual arts, and music, as well as math, English, science, and social studies. Students can take AP and honors classes in some subjects and join theater, dance, music, and visual arts programs. The student body is made up of people from many different ethnic groups, just like the people who live in Long Beach. The scores show that literacy skills are better than math skills, with 14% of students being good at math and 53% being good at reading (ELA). The school helps students do well by offering intervention programs, tutoring, and SAT prep. It is known for combining arts with academics, encouraging creativity, and creating a safe space for students to grow both academically and artistically.
