Being Updated
With its hard, project-based STEAM curriculum and specialized magnet programs, Santiago STEAM Magnet is getting students ready for jobs all over the world in the future. Recently, the school took part in a district-wide Magnet Fair to show off its special programs to families who might want to enroll their kids in the 2025–2026 school year. Teachers are still using new ways to teach that focus on doing science experiments and thinking critically.
Q1. What sets the Santiago STEAM Magnet curriculum apart?
Ans. All students learn through project-based learning that focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. This helps them solve real-world problems.
Q2. Are there special engineering labs at Santiago STEAM Magnet?
Ans. Students can use professional-grade tools, robotics kits, and software to design and build prototypes in "Maker Spaces" on campus.
Q3. Are there parts of the Santiago STEAM Magnet program that are only for art?
Ans. The "A" in STEAM stands for "arts," and it includes both visual and performing arts in technical lessons to encourage creative and new ways of thinking about design.
Q4. How do students sign up for the Santiago STEAM Magnet program?
Ans. Families need to take part in the district's School Choice process and send in a magnet application during the open enrollment period.
Q5. Does Santiago STEAM Magnet work with experts in the local business world?
Ans. Yes. The school often invites guest speakers from the fields of engineering and technology to talk to students about possible careers around the world.
