Sunset Elementary still helps its K–6 students in special ways through its one-of-a-kind Hacienda La Puente Unified Special Education programs. The school just finished going over the data again to make sure that all of the health and accessibility needs for this semester are met. Principal Rosette Holmes is working with families on the 2026 LCAP survey to make sure that the district keeps special education services at the top of its list of things to do.
Q1. Does Sunset Elementary have a program that lets students learn in two languages?
Ans. The school has a Dual Language Immersion program in Spanish to help students learn to read and write in both languages.
Q2. What is the school color and official mascot for Sunset Elementary?
Ans. Students wear navy blue and white, which are the school's colors. The school mascot is the Sea Lion.
Q3. Does Sunset Elementary have any after-school care programs on campus?
Ans. The ASPIRE Program gives students supervised care and help with their schoolwork after school.
Q4. Are there any special cultural programs at Sunset Elementary, like Folklorico?
Ans. Students can join a traditional Folklorico dance group to honor their culture and perform at different community events.
Q5. What does Sunset Elementary do to help students who are gifted and talented?
Ans. The school offers GATE services through differentiated instruction that is meant to push students who show a lot of academic promise.
