Sunset Elementary still helps its students in special ways through its unique Hacienda La Puente Unified Special Education programs. The school just double-checked the data to make sure that all of this semester's health and accessibility needs are met. Principal Rosette Holmes is working with families on the 2026 LCAP survey to make sure that the district's top priority stays special education services.
Q1. Are there special support services for orthopedically handicapped (OH) students at Sunset Elementary?
Ans. Sunset Elementary is a special school in the HLPUSD district that offers full support and facilities for OH students.
Q2. How many students are there for each teacher in the specialized classrooms at Sunset Elementary?
Ans. The school keeps the number of students per teacher very low so that each student can get personalized, in-depth instruction that meets their needs.
Q3. Does Sunset Elementary offer physical education that is tailored to the needs of students who have trouble moving around?
Ans. Licensed adaptive PE specialists help students improve their physical skills by giving them activities that are tailored to their needs.
Q4. How often do Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings take place at Sunset Elementary?
Ans. At least once a year, or more often if the school team or parents ask for it, IEP meetings are held.
Q5. Are there special bus services for kids who go to Sunset Elementary?
Ans. The district offers door-to-door transportation with special equipment for students whose IEPs say they need to travel in a certain way.
