Principal Collin Miller personally welcomed students to Nelson Elementary with a red-carpet ceremony at the start of the school year. The school made the news recently because parents were very involved during the first week of the 2025–2026 school year. The "Every Day Counts" attendance campaign is the most important thing people are doing right now to help kids make the most of their time in school.
Q1. Does Nelson Elementary have a special garden for teaching students about the environment?
Ans. To learn about life cycles and why it's important to protect the environment, students work in the campus garden.
Q2: What is the "Red Carpet" event that Nelson Elementary School has every year?
Ans. This tradition greets students on the first day of school with a party to get them excited about learning.
Q3. Is there a coding or computer science elective at Nelson Elementary?
Ans. Technology lessons are built into the main curriculum so that all students learn the basics of coding and how to use computers.
Q4. What does Nelson Elementary do with awards for good attendance?
Ans. To encourage students to go to class, the school honors students with perfect attendance records at monthly assemblies.
Q5. Are there summer school options for kids at Nelson Elementary?
Ans. The district runs a summer learning academy for students who need extra help with math and reading during the break.
