Jefferson Academy is a public K–8 school in Hanford, California, with about 492 students. The school maintains a student–teacher ratio of about 27:1, reflecting a structured classroom setting across elementary and middle grade levels. Jefferson Academy has a wide range of students who are a good representation of the Hanford community. The California Coastal Commission gave Jefferson Academy's third graders a Whale Tail Grant to make bilingual books and teach people about California's coastal ecosystems. The school community celebrated this hands-on project.
