The "Positive Behavior Intervention and Support" program at Oak Chan Elementary is still a big deal. Every month, the school holds assemblies to honor students who show great character. The school is getting ready for its annual Science and Engineering Fair, which is meant to get students to do their own research and think critically. Families are reminded that the deadline for applying to choose a school in the district for the next school year is coming up at the end of the month.
Q1. Is there a separate science lab at Oak Chan Elementary?
Ans. The school has a special lab where students can do hands-on experiments that are in line with the current state standards.
Q2. Does Oak Chan Elementary have a "Zero Waste" policy?
Ans. The school wants students to bring lunches that don't make any trash so that there is less trash on campus.
Q3. Are there any chess or strategy clubs at Oak Chan Elementary?
Ans. Students who want to improve their strategic thinking and competitive play skills can join an after-school chess club.
Q4. How does Oak Chan Elementary School talk to families who don't speak English?
Ans. The district offers translation services, and digital newsletters can be translated into many languages to make it easier for families to talk to each other.
Q5. Can students at Oak Chan Elementary bring their cell phones?
Ans. To keep kids from being distracted in class, their phones must stay off and in their backpacks all day.
