With about 230 students, it is the main high school in its specialized district. It has a student-to-teacher ratio of about 19:1, which helps students learn in a focused way. The school is known as one of the best places for students who want to work in law enforcement, firefighting, or emergency services. There are a lot of different types of students at the school. 98% of them are minorities, and 73% of them are economically disadvantaged. The school has Advanced Placement classes, but only 27% of students take them. The school also has proficiency rates of 8% in Math and 38% in Reading. Students are also encouraged to take college-prep tests like the SAT and ACT. The Public Safety Academy is great at getting students ready for public service and college through a community-based learning model that includes a strict curriculum and a disciplined environment, and it is one of the best high school in California.

In early 2026, the Public Safety Academy the best high school in the Fairfield area. This showed how serious the school was about preparing students for college and work. The Work Ready Certification Program is a unique program that helps students improve their professional skills and confidence by working directly with the fire and police departments in their area. The Fairfield Police and California National Guard also do formal inspections every week to keep the academy's tradition of excellence going. This supports the program's goal of teaching discipline and leadership.
