Being Updated
During the springtime of this year, James Dougherty Elementary School held events and activities in honour of its 25th Anniversary. An example is the presentation of springtime programs showcasing student work, achievement for the last year, and community involvement to the families of children at the school. In addition, the staff of James Dougherty Elementary introduced new classroom resources and learning tools to help students finish the year on a positive note.
Q1. How do teachers usually communicate with parents at James Dougherty Elementary?
Ans. Teachers generally stay in touch through emails, school apps, or occasional notes sent home. Some also schedule meetings during the year if there’s a need to discuss progress in more detail.
Q2. Are students given time during the day to finish classwork?
Ans. In many cases, teachers set aside time in class for students to complete assignments. It depends on the lesson, but students are not always expected to finish everything at home.
Q3. What happens if a student misses a few days of school?
Ans. If a student is out for a few days, they usually catch up after coming back. Teachers may point them to what was missed and give them some time to finish it.
Q4. Do students have access to any basic technology during lessons?
Ans. Yes, in some classes they do use devices now and then. It depends on the lesson, so it’s not something that happens all the time.
Q5. How do students adjust to classroom expectations at the start of the year?
Ans. The first few days are mostly about getting used to how things work. After that, students tend to fall into the routine without too much trouble.
