The former DUSD Superintendent's long history of service and legacy were honored by changing the name of Imperial Elementary to John Garcia Jr. Elementary School. The school is still a center for STEAM education, with students taking part in robotics competitions and science fairs that require them to do things. It is also still an important part of the district's Apple Distinguished School network, which makes sure that all students have access to the best learning tools.
Q1. Does Imperial Elementary School take part in any community service projects?
Ans. To help families in Downey, students often take part in food drives and community service projects.
Q2: What are the rules for students using cell phones at Imperial Elementary School?
Ans. To keep kids from being distracted in class, phones must be turned off and put away in backpacks during school hours.
Q3. Is there a dual-language immersion program at Imperial Elementary School?
Ans. The school offers a variety of multicultural learning opportunities throughout the school year, even though they aren't the main focus.
Q4. How does Imperial Elementary School take care of students' medicine needs?
Ans. All medicines must be kept in the health office and given by trained staff with permission from a doctor.
Q5. Does Imperial Elementary School have art programs for its students?
Ans. Students get regular art lessons through projects that are part of their regular classes and special school-wide creative shows.
