Being Updated
A high-point event for Covina-Valley Unified School District was seen in the recent Superintendent’s Update, where four grade students from Manzanita Elementary School delivered award-winning speeches, showcasing the high level of student confidence and continued growth in literacy development throughout the district. The speakers were able to provide careful thought and articulation of their ideas as they expressed themselves before the entire district community, allowing students to present their ideas on what communication and 'voicing' means in the context of education. In addition, this recognition allowed for Manzanita Elementary School's students to gain additional visibility, while continuing to promote the concepts of academic achievement and student leadership opportunities at their respective campus.
