In Corning, California, Olive View Elementary has received additional accolades for its prosthetic hand-building program in 2024. The program, which has students build working prosthetic hands for those who cannot afford them, is a hands-on STEM project that began in 2018, meeting the needs of students in the community. As CUESD's largest campus with 546 students - 88% of whom are from low socioeconomic backgrounds - this initiative represents a signature example of project-based learning in one of its highest-needs schools.
