Being Updated
Grand Oaks Elementary is currently using the "Talking Points" communication tool to give families and staff members translations in real time. The school has recently made a lot of changes to the campus. For example, they painted the playground and built a high-tech Makerspace where students can work on engineering projects. The kids in grades 3–5 are also getting ready for the spring play "Annie Kids" during planned morning sessions in the multi-purpose room.
Q1. Is there a separate technology lab at Grand Oaks Elementary School for students to use for research projects?
Ans. The school has a special Makerspace lab for advanced digital learning and engineering, but students use their own devices.
Q2. What do you need to do to be a classroom volunteer at Grand Oaks Elementary School?
Ans. Before they can help on campus, volunteers must show proof of a current TB test and pass a district background check.
Q3. Are there any gardening or environmental science activities at Grand Oaks Elementary School?
Ans. Students learn about biology and how to protect the environment in their area by planting things in the school garden at different times of the year.
Q4. How does Grand Oaks Elementary School send families weekly updates and reminders?
Ans. Every Sunday night, the principal sends out a digital newsletter with important dates and reminders for both academic and social events on campus.
Q5. Do students at Grand Oaks Elementary School have to take physical education classes?
Ans. State law says that every student must have at least 200 minutes of physical education every ten days.
