The California Distinguished School award for 2025 went to Palm Innovation Academy for its impressive growth in student attendance and academic achievement. In May 2025, Principal Idali Lopez accepted the award for the "Palm Panthers" at a special ceremony at the Disneyland Hotel. As part of its fourth year as an innovative learning site, the school is getting ready to host workshops for parents and assemblies for students.
Q1. What does "Innovation" mean at Palm Innovation Academy, and how do you learn it?
Ans. The curriculum combines project-based learning with design thinking to help students use modern technology to solve real-world problems.
Q2. Does Palm Innovation Academy have a place for students to work on engineering projects?
Ans. The campus has a "Maker Space" that is very high-tech. In this space, students can use 3D printers and robotics kits to make things.
Q3. What does Palm Innovation Academy do to reward students for doing well and being good?
Ans. Students who show leadership get "Panther Pride" rewards, and their hard work is recognized at school-wide assemblies every month.
Q4. Is it possible for parents to eat lunch with their kids in the Palm Innovation Academy cafeteria?
Ans. Parents can eat lunch with their kids at the outdoor tables after checking in at the front office.
Q5. What kinds of tech do students at Palm Innovation Academy get to use every day?
Ans. The school has a one-to-one device ratio, which means that each student gets an iPad or Chromebook to help them learn how to use technology.
