Union Street Charter is located at 470 Union St., Arcata, California 95521. The school serves students from Kindergarten through Grade 5. Total enrollment at the campus is approximately 99 students. The student–teacher ratio is 16:1, supporting structured classroom instruction. The student population includes about 52% female students and 48% male students. According to state assessment data, 85% of students meet or exceed proficiency in math and 85% meet or exceed proficiency in reading. The school operates as a charter campus known for strong academic outcomes within a smaller learning environment. The campus is an independent charter school that works to keep academic performance steady across all grade levels. Students follow a set academic program that helps them learn the main subjects in all grades. Teachers make sure that students keep moving forward by giving them clear directions and checking on their work often. The school keeps getting good grades because the teachers always do the same things in class and set clear goals for what the students should learn. The Union Street Charter School in Arcata was named a California Blue Ribbon School in 2025. This is one of the highest honours a public school in the state can get. Schools that do well in school or make progress in closing achievement gaps get this award. The award shows that the school has always done well in both reading and math.
