Being Updated
Phoenix Academy has stuck to its rule this year that students must leave 30 minutes early to make sure that everyone leaves safely and in an orderly way. The school counseling department is meeting with families right now to talk about how to get their kids into harder classes and better academic placements for the next semester. The academy's Associated Student Body (ASB) programs are still going strong and are still encouraging students to be leaders and get to know each other.
Q1. Does Phoenix Academy have a special program for Gifted and Talented Education (GATE)?
Ans. Phoenix Academy finds GATE students through testing and gives them different kinds of instruction in core subjects to meet their advanced learning needs.
Q2. What do you need to do to be a chaperone on a field trip at Phoenix Academy?
Ans. Before they can help out, chaperones must go through the AVUSD Volunteer Assistance Program, which includes a background check and TB clearance.
Q3. Does Phoenix Academy require all students to have their own devices?
Ans. To help with digital learning and research assignments, each student gets a Chromebook to use during the school day.
Q4. Does Phoenix Academy have any clubs for coding or robotics?
Ans. The academy has seasonal STEM clubs where students can learn the basics of programming and compete in regional robotics competitions.
Q5. What does Phoenix Academy do to keep the K-8 playground facilities in good shape?
Ans. To make sure that younger kids and older kids have their own play times, recess and lunch times are staggered by grade level.
