Being Updated
In late 2024, the school district said it would build four new transitional kindergarten (TK) classrooms at Desert Knolls Elementary. The school still stresses how important it is to use the ParentSquare app to talk to teachers and families in real time. This school year, the campus is working to improve math scores. These scores are better than the average for the district.
Q1. Does Desert Knolls Elementary have a place on campus for kids to stay after school?
Ans. The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) at the school offers supervised care, snacks, and academic help until 6:00 PM.
Q2. What is Desert Knolls Elementary's policy for celebrating students' birthdays?
Ans. The school asks that students bring non-food items like stickers or pencils instead of food for classroom parties to keep health standards high.
Q3. Does Desert Knolls Elementary have bilingual resources for families who speak Spanish?
Ans. The front office offers translation services and bilingual documents so that all families can fully take part in school communications.
Q4. What does Desert Knolls Elementary do with things that are lost and found?
Ans. Things that aren't claimed are kept in a special area near the cafeteria and given to local charities at the end of each trimester.
Q5. Can parents help out with the Desert Knolls Elementary School garden?
Ans. Parents who have been cleared to volunteer are encouraged to help with outdoor learning projects and garden upkeep all year long.
