The January 2026 newsletter from Apple Valley Virtual Academy just went out. It asked all families to check their information through the Aeries Parent Portal. The school is actively promoting its monthly attendance raffle, "Be Great, Miss Less Than 8!" to get students more involved in the virtual world. Students are also looking forward to the upcoming Spirit Days. These are meant to make remote learners feel like they are part of a community.
Q1. Do students who learn from home at Apple Valley Virtual Academy get real books?
Ans. During certain weeks, students can go to the district office and pick up physical textbooks and extra workbooks.
Q2. Can students from Apple Valley Virtual Academy play sports at other schools in the district?
Ans. Students who attend virtual school can join sports teams and clubs outside of school at the middle or high school that is closest to their home.
Q3. What does Apple Valley Virtual Academy do about state-required tests for students who are not in the classroom?
Ans. State-mandated tests are given in person at a secure district facility, and all students must follow a set testing schedule.
Q4. What kind of technical help is available if a district-issued Chromebook doesn't work?
Ans. Families can call the AVUSD IT Help Desk or go to the district office to get help with hardware problems and repairs.
Q5. Do students at Apple Valley Virtual Academy get to meet up with other students?
Ans. The academy holds social events and field trips in person from time to time to help students make friends outside of the digital classroom.
