Aliso Viejo, located in southern Orange County, has a population of roughly 50,000 people and it was developed as a master community. It has many well-managed subdivisions with family-friendly amenities such as parks and recreational facilities. Elementary education in the city is mainly provided by the Capistrano Unified School District. The district has several well-rated public schools, along with some private and charter options as well. In many of these schools, there is a clear focus on academics, but students also get chances to take part in programs like visual arts, performing arts, and basic technology. There are also extracurricular activities available, so students can stay involved outside of regular class time. Some schools in the area have received state or national recognition over time.
